Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By making a booking through bythefjord.com you agree to these Terms of Service and our Cancellation Policy. If you do not agree, please do not proceed with a booking.

2. Bookings and payment

  • A booking is confirmed once the 50% deposit payment has been successfully processed by Stripe.
  • The remaining 50% is due 30 days before your check-in date. We will send a payment link by email.
  • All prices are in Norwegian krone (NOK). Currency conversions shown on the site are indicative only; Stripe charges in NOK.
  • A minimum stay of 2 nights applies to all properties unless otherwise stated.

3. Guest responsibilities

  • Guests must be at least 18 years old to make a booking.
  • The number of guests must not exceed the maximum stated for each property.
  • Guests are responsible for leaving the property in the same condition as found. Damage beyond normal wear and tear may be charged to the guest.
  • Smoking is not permitted inside any property.
  • Pets are not permitted unless agreed in writing before arrival.
  • Use of the boat (Above the Fjord property) is limited to the Haugsbygdafjord. Guests use the boat at their own risk and must comply with Norwegian maritime regulations.

4. Cancellations and refunds

See our full Cancellation Policy for details. In summary: cancellations made 14 or more days before check-in receive a 50% refund of the deposit. Cancellations within 14 days of check-in are non-refundable.

5. Liability

By the Fjord is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage to persons or property during a stay, except where required by Norwegian law. Guests are advised to arrange appropriate travel insurance.

6. FjordVibes gallery

By submitting a photo or video to the FjordVibes gallery, you grant By the Fjord a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display the content on this website and associated social media channels. You confirm that you own or have the right to share the content submitted.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts.
